The End

Yesterday was our last Christmas Party. While part of me says "Thank goodness" another part of me is going to miss it. I really enjoy seeing everyone. I might not get to have a full conversation, but I can listen in here and there to what everyone is up to and it's nice to hear everyone for the most part is doing well. On to the clean up, this is the part I don't really care for, it's depressing packing everything away. I woke up this morning with the intention of coming downstairs and getting started. Then I looked at the mound of things that I swear I have put away a few times already and I simply got overwhelmed with where to begin. It doesn't help that all of our living room furniture is in the dining room and library. (We call it a library because it has floor to ceiling built in bookshelves, sounds snobby huh!) So, where to start? With my blog of course. Yup, I moved some plastic over on the couch and plopped my tush down and started typing. Annie just came and told me she wants to eat, hmmm what can I send her to get on her own? Ok, Ok, I will get up and get motivated, the coffee is done anyhow so I should get going. Ugh. I hope everyone is recovering well. I have some blog catch up's to do. Is it Friday yet? The room we are painting, it was a very light khaki, and now it is the Pottery Barn Barley color. It's still the first coat, the walls are really soaking it up, so it will be interesting to see what the second coat does. I am going to try and recruit some college helpers today...(you guys awake yet?) Don't look too close, you'll notice the slanted floors, the gap between the floor and molding, we spent yesterday caulking the cracks and seams, hopefully it will help with the drafts. The next picture is the dining room, think we can find a teeny tiny spot to sit and eat with all the junk on the table? That has been where everything gets dumped and reloaded from party to party...time to clear out! Notice my computer on the couch, yup, I am a dedicated blogger now!

This is the room we call the library, you can kinda see one bookshelf here, there is another on the right of the tree and then the wall directly to my right where I am standing to take the picture is a wall of shelves. To the left of the tree is our new 140 year old piano and to the left of that is the fireplace. Kinda a hard room to place furniture in, we are hoping to take out the wall to my direct left and open the room up to the dining room. (dining room pic, this would be the wall with the glass door) So anyways, this is my mess and I should really get off my tush and get started. Have a good day.

Hey there! thanks for your nice comments on my blog today :)
Love the new color of your walls! Your house looks adorable.......love the floor to ceiling bookshelves! We live in an old house and NOTHING is straight! Slanted floors, slanted door ways, gaps between floor and trim....yup, everything's a little off! Gotta love the charm of an old house :) Have a great day!

Happy New Year to you too, Girlymom! Glad to hear you had such a nice family celebration. I know how you feel, one part of me is happy all the hub-bub is over and half is disappointed that all the fun is over, too!

Sounds like you and your husband are starting the year off all motivated! Painting on New Year's Day, I'm impressed! :) I like the color, too! The pictures of your house are great, it's such a warm and charming looking home. Reminds me of "It's a Wonderful Life" type of home, always full of activity! Glad you're "back", now go pick up that paint brush! :)

I don't know why, but none of the pictures on your site were loading - so I will come back later and look at the pictures of your room you were showing in this post. Happy New Year to you and your family. I'll see you later. Kellan

Oooo! I love that color. That is right up my ally!
I sooo wish I had floor to ceiling bookshelves. If we ever move out of this house, that will be a MUST in the next house.

I love the new color of your walls! Remember to just breathe and it will all get painted, taken down, put away, etc. I'm waiting until Epiphany on Jan 6 to take my stuff down.

Happy New Year!

Did Mom give you the tree blanket, or did you happen to find one just like the one we had growing up (and if so, where??)

Your house is beautiful. Really. I love the color and the warmth and I can only see it in pictures! I imagine it's even better in person.

I still haven't taken our Christmas tree down. Everything else is boxed up and put away but Gracie cried when I started on the tree. I've decided that during school tomorrow is a better time. Hopefully. :)

Heidi- The ceilings are just shy of 10 feet. It makes the house seem much bigger, I love it.
Mary- Nice to know I am not the only one with slanted floors. I have tripped a few times and I blame the floors, not my lack of coordination! :P
-KY- Mom gave the tree skirt to me way before I got married. Grandma B made it, I think she said for my first Xmas. Not positive on that.

I'm not sure how I found you but I love reading about your girlie life. Your girls are beautiful.
We have 4 as well but we're only half as girlie over here:)

You place is going to look great. I hate the process but I love bringing the beauty out in an old place. All the possibilities!

Nice to meet you!

Your home is lovely! I absolutely adore that color. It looks like something I would put in my home (That is if I ever got around to actually painting the walls in my new home!!) Redecorating is sooo much fun....once it is all over.
