Later boon!

Everyone seemed to have fun with the names yesterday- it got me thinking what other funny things do we do. So I thought it might be fun to have a different topic everyday this week and see how it goes. I got a good laugh from those nicknames, thanks to everyone who commented! Keep it going!

Funny things we say to our kids...

I'll feed ya to the ducks! (thanks to Hubby's Gpa)
I mixed it with my toes! (another Gpa)
See ya later alligator- after awhile crocodile- not too soon you big baboon!! (my parents- my children in the car racing Papa to say this fastest...and loudest!)
Later boon! (Annie's shortened version)
Act your age not your shoe size (my dad)
I will try and think of more to add later, brain fart right now!

I would love to get a good list going, PLEASE add more of your own!

My grandma Carrie had a saying that I actually did not understand, she'd say "If you get over the horse, you'll get over the horses ass." No clue! I guess it has something to do with overcoming adversity? My favorite is my husbands threat to my kids when they are misbehaving, he tells them he is "going to apply the claw", (it's a tight squeeze to the back of the neck with his hand) they know he's reached the boiling point when the "claw" comes out!

Those are so cute. We say the after while crocodile too and we also say later-gator and I just can't even think of some of the ones we say. I'm gonna think about it and come back in a while.

My mother in law always says to the kids, "Okie Dokie Mr. Smokey..." when getting ready to hang up during a phone conversation.

So, I was trying to come up with something funny that the kids and I say to each other all the time, and all I could think of was this (said by me, obviously):

Sit down and eat your food.
Sit down.
SIT DOWN.

I know, not very funny. But it is said at each and every meal. Repeatedly.

When a child asks me "why?" I find myself saying "Because you're young and full of pee!" My grandpa always used to say that. Or, when a child of mine says "Moooommy! Mommy! Mommy!" I always say "That's my name, don't wear it out!" And when my baby wakes up in the morning (she is always the last one awake) I always bring her out to my others and say "Look what I found!!"
