I'm Not Ready!

I have a large "sponge" that is about 3 inches thick, it is contoured to fit a baby. I put this into the kitchen sink and add some nice warm water. I get out the J&J baby soap, the wash cloth, a clean diaper, clean clothes and a towel. I am ready. Dels is ready. I change the dirty diaper and carry VERY quickly a bare baby to the kitchen sink. I set her in the sink, just like I have done hundreds of times since bringing her home from the hospital.
Wait a minute...I'm not ready!
I can't lay her down in the sink anymore. I have to sit her down in the sink. When did she learn how to SIT? Yeah Yeah, she does it all the time on the floor with toys, but she's not old enough to be doing this in the bath~ right?! I sigh, my baby, my teeny tiny baby is growing up too fast. She is sitting in the sink. She is reaching for the faucet. She is giggling at the bubbles. She is splashing in the water. She surprises herself with a splash in the face, looks up at me with these big blue bright eyes and Smiles! I lean her back to rinse her hair, WHAT?? I can't even get her to fit head to tush anymore? Not only is she sitting in the sink, but now she is too tall for the sink too!
My heart can't take this!
We have a HUGE sink, how is it that she doesn't fit?
Maybe if I lay her back at an angle...nope too tall for that too.
*Sigh*
After her bath, I cuddle her up in her towel, dry her off, tickle a few pudges and get her dressed. I ask fashion trendy Lolo to grab me a hat, since it is still chilly here. Well, you can see the pictures and the hat that she chose~ the hat fits, it used to cover her eyes...now it fits!
*Sigh*
What have I learned from this bath?
That my oldest baby can't even fit her feet in the sink.
That my second baby wants to bathe by herself now.
That my third baby desperately needs a bath...
runny nose and wiping sideways with the sleeve...it's not pretty.
My fourth and teeny tiny baby, well~ she's still my baby, but I better not blink because today she might be sitting in the sink and wearing the too big hat, but tomorrow she will be throwing that graduation hat up in the air and running out my Red Door!
Wait a minute... I'm not ready!

Sigh. They do grow at warp speeds. I had Taylor yesterday and yet she'll be 4 in like 2 1/2 weeks. Where did the time go and how is my last baby going to be 2 all ready?

Time flies, huh? I can't believe how big lil man's gotten, how much talking he does now (including some back talk already!) it's crazy...on the other hand, I am looking forward to no more diapers...soon, right???? :)

I'm tearing up here. My baby, now four, is also growing up too quickly. She is now as autonomous as the day is long... ouch!

As a sidenote- I wanted to thank you for your kind words on my comments today.

What I found extremely interesting was the fact that as you strive to become more open, more comfortable, more "churchy"... and I struggle to become more of a Godly, involved, dedicated mother to my children so they will impact others in the ways of God.

Which goes to show that iron sharpens iron. I have been drawn to you and your blog because parenting is your strength.

Parenting... childrearing... TRULY IS YOUR PLATFORM for which I have been extremely blessed to glean from.

Thanks friend. Have a wonderful Thursday.

Mmm... Uh huh... I see... You need another baby. Your not ready to give up the baby? Don't you think it's hardest with the first? I think it would be the easiest when the family gets even bigger. I have 4 and would love more, though I don't think I will.

I don't think I will ever be ready! Lauren will be 6 on Sunday and it has just flown by!

Oh precious, Dells! Don't you just wish you could freeze time for just a little while? You could have named this post, Blink! Seriously, because you bling for a second, and they are just all grown!

Great post!

I will eventually post about the "you're only a mother" comment. Seriously, though I will have to figure how to write it nicely. If I even can. The not named person is a piece of work!

It's so funny how 9 months of pregnancy CRAWL by, but 9 months of baby FLY by!! Why is that?

I completely understand! They grow up so fast. One minute they are giggling at everything we do & the next they are rolling their eyes at us telling us we're weird! I've tried to stop blinking, but it doesn't work!!

Great post, although I am sorry for all of us mothers...this happens to all of us! Heartbreaking really.....just hope we give them everything they need to make smart choices and strong enough wings before they run out the door.

AHHHHHHHHHH! It does happen so fast. I keep waiting to turn around and see K in a graduation gown and C in his wedding tux. It will be here before I can blink.

I know exactly what you mean! I am having such a hard time with my baby girl getting big so fast. She will be 1 soon. I can't believe how fast time goes by. I really wish I had a pause button!

Time flies, eh? I wish mine would grow up quickly when they are naughty and wish that they would remain small and young when they are angels.

My baby was born a year ago on Monday (the 24th) and when she was only a couple days old I was bawling my eyes out because I knew she'd grow so fast.

Oh, this just happened to us in his baby tub! I nearly cried. Hubby thought I was CRAZY. We know it is only a matter of time before we make the move to the bathtub. I'm having such a hard, hard time with him growing up. I feel I am always on the verge of tears and always have a lump in my throat. I feel for you!!!

I feel it too. Hold them tight and hope that helps keep them small.
