Sorry Dad, but I love ya!

So Hubby and I went out for our LAST Christmas Party and Nana and Papa Babysat. We get into our "fancy" clothes, makeup on, hair dried...and curled, the boots with the HEELS on, Hubby in a black suit, shoes shined- we are on the road and we are ON TIME, well fashionably late anyways. Then the phone rings...Hubby answers, "Did they burn the carpet already?" Yup, Nana is on the phone, I mean it has been 5 minutes and we are summoned...and it was TOTALLY worth it! They wanted to find the camera, the girls were dressing up Papa! So after a night out it was fun to come home to these great pictures! I now have my family contributing to my blog- who'd a thought?!!!

Now this might not be incredibly funny to the average person, but this is MY dad- the Harley Rider! Actually the shirt he has on is a BRIGHT YELLOW Harley shirt (we make him wear it in big crowds) He has a Harley belt buckle, that he wears EVERYWHERE, weddings, funerals, work functions, it doesn't matter- the only time I have seen him without it is on the beach, otherwise he has his big ole buckle on. He takes just as many pictures (if not more) of his bike as he does of his grandkids- I gave him a hard time because his background and screen saver...home and work... were of the bike! He parks his bike at the beach and takes pictures...from multiple angles, backgrounds, seasons. He can honestly say that he has taken his bike out for a ride at least once a month YEAR-ROUND (hello, we live in Michigan!!) BRrrrrr.

My Dad is a great dad, he is always more than willing to help with anything (no cooking, but he will do dishes...it softens his hands so they don't dry and crack...for bowling!) He is a loving and caring dad. I enjoyed growing up with him... boating, swimming, sea doos, soccer, bike rides, camping, chopping wood, moving houses, packing warehouse orders competitively :) We were always very active. Over the years he has been by my side, at my graduation, bringing me to college, crying when I left home (sorry) and again by my side walking down the aisle. I always knew he was proud of me and that was always something that I craved- I loved that my dad was proud of me.

It has been 11 years that I have been out of the house. Many things in my life have changed. I am married, I have moved many times, been all across the country and over in Hawaii. Been pregnant 4 times, have 4 beautiful daughters, settled back home and have a home of my own now. My relationship with my dad has changed as well- we might not be playing soccer together, but we are still able to relate and stay close and I like that. He has recently told me that he is proud of me. I didn't really know what to say. It wasn't because of a swimming time or a soccer goal, it was because of me. Me, the person I am and the mom I have become. I love that my dad is proud of me and I will never forget that he has told me this.

So now while I stand on the sidelines of the soccer game and watch my daughter play, I will remember what it was like to look over and see my dad. Now I just look to my side because there he is beside me at my daughter's game. Thanks dad! I'm proud of you too and I love you!

Okay,..I know I'm older than you Girlymom,..your dad is hot! :) Really, what a handsome man he is, he reminds me of Ralph Lauren! (not the pictures with the makeup and jewelry,..no!) Actually, both your mom and dad look so young, and your mom is very pretty, too! It looks like they have all sorts of fun with your girls, that's so great! What wonderful memories your girls will keep with them of the fun they've shared! I hope your dad reads what you wrote about him, it's really a beautiful post, and so nice that you two have such an amazing relationship.

Ok, first off, I'm so glad Lizzy said what I was thinking. Your Dad is hot!! (and I'm only 37) Sorry if that's wierd to hear but it does explain why you are so good looking!!! :-)

Ok, that's not what I came over to say but his handsome good looks distracted me!!

What I wanted to say was thank you for caring about how I'm doing. I really don't like being the mom at home worrying but I accept the challenge and am trying my best to cope. This is all still so new for me that it's tough to know how to react.

I am trying to keep busy but no matter what my body may be doing, my brain won't shut off. And my stomach always hurts but I suspect that having a son off getting beaten up would make any mom's tummy hurt.

You help make it better though with your wonderfully kind comments. Thank you so much for that...

Now, call you Dad and tell him I said hi! (but don't tell my hubby!)

Hallie :-)

Hey - thanks for coming over and leaving the well wishes - I am fine - only need to remember about that bra thing the next time I ever have to call 911. Hope to see you tomorrow. Kellan

It's so good that you have such a good relationship with your dad. I can't say the same, so I'm jealous, but I really am glad that you do! I'm also glad that my girls will and do too. :)

How is it possible that parents that YOUNG have a married mother of four as their daughter?! And the genetics you have...some girls have all the luck!

That is great that you have that kind of relationship! I never knew my Dad growing up it didn't bother me but now that I see my kids with their dad and I am starting to understand all that I missed!

We did have the wine and we loved it my husband is going to look for some more so we can keep it stocked in the house.

Also thanks for your comments concerning my blog about having more kids, it is a big step but I really think it is the right one.

I will keep you posted!
