So when talking to College Friend last night, she clued me into the Kraft website for meal planning and ideas. So of course I had to check it out. I think I'm in LOVE!! (Thanks M!- is it lunchtime yet?) SO this is not your typical recipe site that gives you the recipe, maybe a grocery list and wishes you good luck....NO- this site actually consolidates your grocery list, gives you a weeks worth of meals and easy easy easy recipes too- that you just print off. I discovered the 5 meals in one grocery bag- c'mon that sounds way too easy! In my attempt to make new meals- and cook every night- and PLAN my grocery list and meals in advance (so I am not giving my pantry the blank stare every night looking for a meal to magically appear) I have decided to give this site a try...anyone up for it? We can make it a group project and see which ones are the favorites. This could be fun!
My goals...
#1- to lower my grocery bills by not doing last minute runs to the store and grabbing all those non essentials along the way.
#2- to find yummy new healthy meals (not too yummy, still want to loose a few before vacation)
#3- to get organized, plan ahead and maybe even clip a few of those coupons my mom keeps bringing over (thanks mom) actually did you know this is a great project for the kids, helps them learn how to cut with scissors (kids safety ones of course) and it helps them learn the value of money- maybe- ok, so I like to think so.
Check THIS out! Oh and check out the wine in the post below, because it was yummy!

I am glowing right now- I learned how to do the hilighted word link feature!!! Know how many times I tried, never knew you had to hilight the actual word first- duh!
I will have to check it out! I am ALWAYS looking for ways to be more organised (or just a little organized) and to save money on groceries! I even wrote a post on it. I'm also going to check out the wine, too. I love having a glass while I'm making dinner during the hectic hour. It gives me a little bit of enjoyment while slaving away.
(Sorry this is so long) but about the Christmas parties, we just went to one last Saturday and have another one to go to next Wednesday! At least it's a good excuse to go out to eat! Thanks for stopping by my blog. I really enjoyed yours and will definitely be back.
Maria
Good for you on learning something new! I know exactly how you feel, still learning so much! Those meals do sound really good, unfortunately, I have a husband and two boys that are THE pickiest eaters of all time (won't eat things with a cream sauce, no onions for the other, etc.) so they probably wouldn't work for my family unless I did major rehauling of the recipes. It's a great idea though, wish I could use them! You are so right about running to the store twenty times a week to pick up this and that, it really adds up and you don't even realize it because it's a few things here and there. I swear, I can't get out of the grocery store without spending $30.00 minimum each time when all I went in to buy was a lousy box of spaghetti! :) BTW, the wine label is cute, we'll have to try it! It's nice that you and your hubby take the time to just enjoy! Have a great weekend and hope you have a good time at the party! We don't have any more holiday parties to attend, but we do have a "team dinner" for my oldest son and his whole basketball team. I'll trade ya!
Congrats on the link discovery!! Woo Hoo for you! I am so technotarded that it shocked me when I figured it out!
I'm excited to check out the Kraft site. Thanks for the info!!
you silly...but it is fun, isn't it??? Your next post will have all kinds of links...good times. :D
Sounds like a cool site....I might check that out after I get to my goal weight with WW.
have a great weekend.
Someone else told me about this site and I haven't been able to check it out yet. I am definitely going to now.
I have a few Kraft cookbooks that I love - I love how easy their recipes are. I need to make some of the same changes you are trying to make - I shop and have so much stuff in my house that is in my pantry and freezer that just never seems to get used. Have a good weekend. See ya. Kellan
Ha, ha - you are a LINK JUNKIE now - I love it! I'm glad you figured it out. It certainly makes for fun posts!
That site looks neat. I do something similar - I just do it myself. I never go to the store anymore without the entire week of meals planned. Everyone teases me when they come over b/c on my fridge is a list of meals entitled WHAT'S COOKIN'. It works. Try it - you'll never wander the grocery isles again!

I CAN'T wait to drink wine again! I'm hoping that someone brings me some in the hospital haha! I'm totally jealous of your night!
That sounds wonderful, I am on my way to check it out thanks for the tip.
Kraft is great! Thanks for sharing.
You should buy the Body For Life cookbook called "Eating For Life" the recipes are fast, light, and healthy!
I am so with you on those goals! As far as the "lowering my grocery bill" I have been checking out The Grocery Game. It's fun too! You can check it out at thegrocerygame.com
I can't wait to check out the kraft site, thanks for the ideas!!
Oh fun! Thanks for the link! What a huge help!
That sounds like a great idea. Thanks for the suggestion.
Hope you're having a good weekend,
Heidi
I love that site too! I'm also working on having a scheduled menu plan co-ordinated with the weekly shopping trip. I've managed to keep at it for the past 3 weeks, so far, so good!
I hate cooking... thanks for the link. I too, need to organize my meals better. :)
I have used the Kraft website in the past. You can actually sign up for a monthly recipe magazine to be mailed to your house free of charge. The recipes are pretty much the same as they are on-line but it also includes coupons.
Hey - come over and see me - I have something for you. Kellan
I'll check it out! I can't get any worse in the kitchen and this just might help!
Hallie
Thanks for the suggestions! I'll give it a try!
