Random Post with Questions to Answer! Reply! Reply! Reply! Reply, Reply!

So I have all these really great pictures I want to share. I really Really want to share. They are from Memorial Day. My Hubby got back in uniform and walked in the Parade with his Dad to honor those before us. (I just have to add that he looked pretty darn good in his uniform!! Wink Wink!) I have all these great pictures from the day and I can't share. Why? There is this thing I have to worry about... Security. In the background of the pics, it clearly gives away where we live. On the cover (hat) of my FIL's uniform is says where we live. Then there is the museum sign, the street corner, every picture I look at there is something in it that gives it away. I know a few of you know where we live and thanks for not giving it away. After all my job as Mom is to protect my family, give them a safe, loving and secure place to grow up. So since the Memorial Day pictures were out of the question, I thought I would share a few of Bailey and her newest trick. She loves the frisbee! It is the kind that has the hole in the middle. She picks it up and runs with it, it flips over her head now looking like a halo and then her ears flop over the top of the frisbee. SO where is my great picture of this? My darn camera has a delay and she runs way too fast, I can't get a good pic. Strike two on my picture sharing. SO I promise I will keep trying to get that pic, but right now she is passed out sleeping at my feet. Have I mentioned just how good she is!! We've had our share of accidents, but we are all learning and it is getting better. She hates the crate, goes nuts! I am told to keep trying she will learn, be patient, she'll get used to it, but WOW does she hate it and WOW can she bark loud when in it! Funny how different she can be in there. She is a very calm, loving, sweet puppy, but when you put her in there...WOWSERS, she goes crazy! She bumped her head so hard that it actually was bleeding. We are rethinking this whole crate training idea. If only I could figure out a safe way to leave her when we aren't home.

Few questions for everyone:
1. How concerned are you about internet safety?
2. What do you do about it?
3. What kind of camera do you all have that takes all these wonderful pictures I always see?
4. Anyone have a spare that they would like to send this way? :)
5. Any ideas on crate training?
6. How do you leave your dog home alone?
7. How do you teach your dog to stop barking? She only does this when left alone.
8. How do you teach your dog to RETURN the frisbee?

The Upside of having a puppy... loosing weight!! Yeah you read that right! Yippeee!! I am so excited. I have really been trying to lower my food intake and get outside more...it's finally paying off! Bailey and I walked for almost an hour and a half two nights ago, it was great to get out. The Downside...wearing the wrong shoes and having killer blisters!

I know this is a random post, going in many directions, it's probably the large cup of coffee I just finished, but reply, reply reply, fill me in on some pointers!

Have a good one everyone!

1. and 2. Not too too concerned. I probably should be a lot more. I have a line on what I will and will not post. No work stuff for me or the hubby. No address. I do watch who checks my blog. So far I haven't seen anything suspicious.
3. I use an Olympus E-500 digital SLR. I love it.
4. Sorry, I don't have an extra.
5. and 6. We crate our dog every day while at work. We started him out for a few hours at a time and upped the time from there. I think he feels very safe in there. He knows the routine.
7. Barking is tough. I don't really have any advice on this. Our's only barks when something frightens him outside. I usually just yell at him.
8. Repitition with treats. Give her a treat when she brings it back. Something small, just a taste of something.
I had a labradoodle witch is similar to your goldendoodle. Exercise is key with these dogs! Tire her out as much as you can. And be consistent. They are very smart dogs and will catch on with the proper consistency.

Random, I guess!! :)

Ok, your questions...

#1 & #2
Internet safety? We know computer geeks that said if anyone wants ANTYHING about us, be it SSN#, address, shoe size, credit card #'s, etc, they can get it in in a heartbeat. So, I will trust until I have reason not to. naive? Maybe, but I'm game for now.

#3
You can't be talking about my camera! I have a digital Kodak thingy that works great for me since I have no interest in professional photography. If people are in focus (sort of) and not blurry, yeah for me!

#4
No, but if you find 2, send one my way.

#5
Crate training is different for every dog. We crate trained in a small area by leaving the door of the crate open - dogs could go in and out as needed but didnt have much other space to go. Just enough to not feel contained. We also draped 3 sides of crate so it felt cozy inside.

#6
Our dogs now have free roam of the house but we do shut doors and gate off carpeted areas JUST IN CASE! (wieners have small bladders)

#7
Barking ONLY stopped when we got a second dog. Probably not what you wanted to hear, huh?

#8
They are supposed to bring the Frisbee back? :) Actually Fenway will cuz she wants you to throw it again. Chauncey will NOT - we have to chase him until he drops it.

♡ I'm very concerned about internet safety! I don't post our last name or where we live and I don't post where my extended family lives either.

My camera sucks... I doesn't focus very well and it drives me crazy! I need a good one some day! :)

We don't have a dog but I know my sisters leave their dogs in their little cages while they're gone. My brother leaves theirs outside but they have a fenced in yard... :)

I'm semi concerned about internet safety, but I was told the same thing as Hallie. So I am okay for now. Remind me of this if I ever get a stalker. We let our dog roam free. We used to have to put her in her pet taxi in the basement (the only place she didn't bark), but now she's older so she does whatever. Sorry I couldn't be more help. Your post was everywhere, but now my comment is too and I haven't had coffee so I have no excuse!

the internet safety one is the only thing I really have an answer for. I am really worried about husband and kids seeing stuff they don't want too or looking up stuff they shouldn't. So we keep the computer in the family room. And we have virus protection blocks to keep bad things from coming onto our computer. I have been fairly happy with SpyDoc... the free thing you can download

I am concerned but guess that if someones wants to find anything out about me they will. On the camera front though I have to say I use my cell phone. It's a sony Ericson and takes great pix it also means I always have it with me.

I have a Nikon D300 but a Nikon D40 is what I recommend all of my friends. I have convinced at least 6 of my mommy friends to get it and they can't imagine life without it. Seriously. It is the best out there.

We crate. Always. A puppy feels so secure in it. When we leave. We place our dog in it. A dog will become a barker when they feel they need to protect. If you crate that eliminates that behavior. But what do I know, I am not a dog whisperer.

1. I got nothing for ya, sorry.
2. I trust that people don't want to steal my identity when they see me.
3. I have a crazy big camera that while it takes great photos, it is a pain to lug around.
4. If I find something compact and effective, I'll let ya know.
5. For crate training, I started w/ a crate that could have the top taken off and just started walking them into that and giving them treats when they were in there so they felt comfortable. After a while, I put the lid on, but no door, finally I put the door on. Now we only close the door on the crate if they have been bad. Its a safe place for them
6. We close off some of the rooms that we don't want them in and put the pillows on the back of the sofas down so they can't jump up.
7. If you hear Bailey bark then just call him if you are in the area and tell him no, then make him do something where you reward him for doing it right.
8. Keep treats with you when you play with the frisbee. Start with short tosses so he can get it and bring the frisbee back easily then throw farther and farther.

That was quite the all over post but I totally followed it so it all good.
1. & 2. I am not to worried - I try not to use my last name but really if someone wants to find out about me they will no matter what I put on my blog. I use site meter on my blog and it leeps track of everyone who visits my blog and how long they stay where they go after and where they were before. I check it once a week and see if there is anything strange of weird. It makes me feel much better. Best of all it is free!!!
3. I have an Olympus E-Volt 500. LOVE IT!!!!!!
4. Nope only have one sorry :)
5. Never crate trained a dog -- all I can say is patience.
6. We put our dog in the garage (She is not an inside dog)
7. Our dog was never a barker -- sorry, no help there.
8. Never go ther to do that either. She seemed to happy to run around with it for me to spoil her fun!

Good Luck with the puppy and with the camera search!

Good post! Yes I think everyone is nervous about internet safety, are you able to crop in on some shots that would block out street names or ID'ing info at all? Do what is right for your family, but I have never heard of anything horrible happening from a blog, maybe myspace or facebook, but not a blog...KNOCK ON WOOD. And if someone really wants your info.....they will get it...with or without the blog pics/info

I am NOT an expert, but I did hear to teach a dog to fetch, you need 2 balls or Frisbee's. One to throw and one to reward when he brings it back. Treats are also a good reward. As for the crate thing, I do know every step has to be a good one. Putting the dog in needs to be positive. I HATE it more then my dog. We only use it when we leave the house (we have a home alone chewer) but she seems to like being in there when we leave, makes her feel safe. We put in some treats, tell her to go to her crate, she lays down and is happy as can be while we are gone. Barking??? Hard one since that is what dogs do. Thankfully mine does not, but if it is when you are not home...does it matter? Is she.he bothering the neighbors??? Does she bark in her crate when you are not home? Take her with you???? HAHA!

Good luck and THANKS for your great posts! I enjoy them!

1. How concerned are you about internet safety? I am, but I also know that if someone wants info bad enough they will get it.

2. What do you do about it? I don't use our last name and I don't talk specifics about where we live.

3. What kind of camera do you all have that takes all these wonderful pictures I always see? Confession: mine is a point and shoot. Granted it's a ten MP point and shoot, but still. My best suggestion is to try photo editing software (I use Adobe Light Room. You can download trials of almost all of them at their respective sites). Until I get my dream camera (which WILL happen), that's how I satisfy my photo itch.

Okay, as far as internet thing, I never post recent pictures of my kids faces (just baby pictures or pictures from behind). I also don't use my name (although that is so my mom doesn't happen upon my blog...yes, I have issues ;)) The kid thing scares me because I had a stalker in college and once your security has been violated you get way over protective of yourself and those you love. I'm constantly walking a fine line in posting.

Now, my friend, who also blogs, is way open with all her information...so much so that I'm surprised she hasn't listed her social security number in her profile. It works for her but I have to constantly remind her to respect my desire for privacy which she forgets about sometimes.

i worry the most about the internet with my teen. i am hypervigialnt about checking where he has been. i have the passwords for all his accounts. now as for crate training we were pretty lucky with norm. he loves his crate. i would start slow. put him in the crate while you are in the room. lots of treats. as for barking norm does some of that. i banged something metal on the crate and yelled "quiet". that pretty much stopped it. now if i could get him to stop barking outside!

We have a very high internet security. Mr. BK is a computer geek and he made it very tough for the kids to get on websites that are not appropriate for them.

I get freaked out about the sickos out there. That's why I don't post pictures of my kids' face, tell where we live, or use real names. Like everyone else said though, I'm sure they could find it if they wanted to. But it still freaks me out.

Looking for a new camera myself. Reading all of the good recommendations....

No puppies - no advice. Sorry!
