I just want to close my eyes. Just 5 more minutes~ Please! Every single child is awake and all I want to do is close my eyes. The oldest two are playing in their rooms, Annie is "reading" the books in her room and Dels is in her crib gooing to herself, I am just laying in bed listening~ ok it's more of a half listening/half sleeping. Dels squeaks, Annie runs in announcing that Dels is crying and runs to her rescue. She can't reach the pacifier so she just starts entertaining Dels instead. "Old MmmDonald had a farm, EIEIO, with a moo moo here and moo moo here, Old MmmmDonald had a farm EIEIO~ with a moo moo here and a moo moo here, EIEIO!" It's an interesting verse, Dels is enjoying it. Upon hearing this Lolo comes running to join the sing a long party. "No, no no, Annie you forgot a part..."
Both together: "Old McDonald had a farm EIEIO, and on this farm he has a cow, EIEIO, with a moo moo here and a moo moo there, here a moo there a moo everywhere a moo moo....."
As the verse carries on, Annie's words start to slur, she is trying to keep up with her sister, she wants to sing the song too~ eventually she gives up on this "correct" version and goes back to her mooing here and mooing here version.
In walks Molly, she just jumps in on Lolo's verse then speeds a head with the moo moo's so she can pick the next animal...a horse, then a pig, then a sheep, then a giraffe?
I am still laying in bed listening, eyes shut, just listening. Why would she pick a giraffe? The child is in Kindergarten, doesn't she know what animals are on a farm? Ok, so this should be interesting, exactly what does a giraffe say anyways?
And it goes a bit like this...
Annie: "Moo moo here and a moo moo here, here a moo here a moo, everywhere a moo moo"
Lolo: "Old McDonald had a farm, EIEIO, and on this farm there was a ??? Giraffe???" stops singing and is very confused.
Molly: "Old McDonald had a farm, EIEIO, and on this farm there was a GIRAFFE, EIEIO, with a whatever it says here and a whatever it says there, here a whatever it says there a whatever it says, Old McDonald had a farm EIEIO!"
???????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????
"Molly, there aren't giraffe's on a farm!"
"I know that, I was just having fun!"
"Moo moo here and a moo moo here!"
"But we were singing a song about a farm, you have to say a farm animal!"
"Says who, I can say a giraffe!"
"But we are singing a song to Dels, so she won't cry and you are going to confuse her!"
"Old McDonald had a farm, EIEIO and on this farm there was a Rainbow, EIEIO"
"Moo moo here and a moo moo here, EIEIO"
"Uhhhh~ Old McDonald had a farm, EIEIO, and on this farm there was a HORSE, EIEIO"
All together now.
I am laying with my eyes shut, listening...
I can see the frustration in Lolo's eyes.
I can see the 'Oh Yeah, I'll show you' on Molly's face.
I can see the confusion on Annie's face and her shrugging her shoulders at her sisters.
And I can see Dels completely entertained and smiling at it all.
And I still have my eyes shut.

Kids are definitely fun and entertaining.
I'm giggling just reading this,..your girls are something else! :-) I think a giraffe shows alot of creativity personally! I don't know about Dels, but I was entertained just hearing about it, she must have been thrilled to have three sisters serenading cribside!
Sounds like you're in for a very interesting day!
Lizzy
What a great post! I love how you end it and I love the "whatever it says here".
Great imagination and teamwork. A sweet memory before you are even out of bed - that's the way to start the day.

And how nice it must have been hearing them all together :)
I bet you were smiling while your eyes were shut :)
I love to listen in on the kids conversations.
♥ Very cute! Yeah that they're taking care of sister! :)
this was fun. i could see it, too. and HEAR it!
I still lay on my bed and listen as kiddy conversations carry on, I love it!
That was sooo stinkin' cute!
Your children are so good to each other, and you to be in there helping to entertain little sister.
Very cute. Hows the painting coming along?
OK--there has to be a law on too much cuteness!!! I just love your girls! They are so, so adorable. I can visualize the entire scene.
When J is upset--I mean, even in complete meltdown mode, we sing Old McDonald and he is as happy as can be. It is hilarious. The only downside it when you run out of animals and start singing, "Old McDonald had a, uh, um, (baby starts crying) a FRENCH FRY, e i e i o . . . " Yikes. Close call.
So cute and so funny! Love it!
THAT was really sweet! I haven't had a moment like that in a long time but when I have it just warms the soul.
And to answer your question from a ways back - YES I DID DRINK the 44 ounce root beer at the movies!
:)
That is SO cute! I can just see Dels all content and smiling because it just doesn't get much better than that for her! I like whoever was concerned about Dels getting confused...awww! Hehehe...
I've had waaay too many of those mornings... maybe if I don't open my eyes, they will calm down, they will stop fighting... they will lay down and go back to sleep...
sigh
it has yet to work
I can totally see this... because I live it every day!! What sweet girls!
Loved the story. I can picture it too.
Just wanted to say that the music causes issues with my screen reader. Is there a key combo I an put in to stop the music? My husband came over to my computer and stopped it tonight.
Love reading Smiles!
I love when kids get creative and think outside the lines.
