So the leak wasn't as bad as it could have been and it has stopped dripping. Unfortunately it was right over my sisters DVD player she lent us since she moved and didn't take it with her. (C~ I owe ya) Yeah I picked it up and water ran out but.... I did get the dvd we rented out of it! See there is an upside to everything (right Kellan?) Hubby went up on the roof and shoveled it all off. The ice was pretty thick on the edge and the sun has been out lately, which made perfect conditions for some melting of snow, but not enough to melt the ice... a pool of water on the roof! So the corner of that room is cleared out, the garbage can underneath just in case and we will work on fixing the real actual problem when we have more time and the ice melts a bit more so we can actually get to it. Just a few pictures to show everyone that the house is still standing. Unfortunately it isn't another sunny day...nope that would mean spring...we have more snow! Ugh. I walked around the house looking outside~ I wanted to take a picture of the snow and then shrugged and thought~ Nah, they all know what it looks like and it just didn't seem quite as pretty today when all I want to see right now is grass!
The reason this isn't being fixed today...not because of laziness, nope~ a funeral. A second cousin of mine passed away on Monday. It was expected, but it hasn't hit me yet. I didn't really know him very well, but I know his children~ mostly his daughter and siblings. His daughter is my age, has a son about the same age as my oldest and I cannot imagine what she is going through right now. They weren't very close, not your typical happy father daughter relationship, but it still has to hurt. Tonight is the visitation, a night to hug and console, a night to dab the tears, a night to say good bye...to an alcoholic. A man who was 48 years old, a man that for as long as I can remember has had a stench on his breathe, but a man nonetheless. I pray that my memories of this man, my second cousin will not be of the lifestyle he lived, but of the man that he was, a son, a brother, a father.

Ok and when I was rereading this I realized just how depressing it was and since that is not me...or the mood I am in I just had to add this...
YES!!!!
Dels FINALLY slept ALL night!
Just don't let her know how excited this makes me...Shhhh!

I'm sorry for your loss. I'll be thinking of you today.
Hopefully the snow leaves soon and you can get that leak fixed.
That has to be tough remembering the man not the lifestyle. Hugs to you and your whole family.
sorry to hear about your roof, and your second cousin.
So sorry to read about your cousin.
Hope that the snow leaves soon and you can get that leak fixed. Glad it wasn't worse!
That video is weird!! No wonder Connor's sweatshirt has been freaking you out!! I can't wait to show this to him!!
Yeah about Dels sleeping but I'm very sorry about your loss.
Like how you still tried to end your blog on an upnote! :)

Hi Girlymom,
I feel responsible, I sent you the snow you're getting today here from Chicago! :) We got six more inches of the dang stuff yesterday and I'm ready to see some green grass, too!
Those pics of your ceiling look pretty bad, it's amazing what water can do! Hope it's not too difficult to fix.
I'm sorry for the loss of your cousin. It's hard to comprehend how a person can virtually throw their life away by abusing themself, while others try so hard to be healthy, isn't it? My husband's BF died two years ago at the ripe old age of 45 from alcoholism, also, and it's truly such a sad situation. You made an excellent point, though, remembering the person, not the disease, is what's really important.
And,..as you said, on a lighter note,..HIGH FIVE on baby Dels sleepin' through the night!!!! Whoo-hoo!! Do you feel as fresh as a daisy today?! :-)

Wow...what a day! May God bring peace to your cousin and your family!
Congrats on Del sleeping through the night. Isn't that THE BEST?!?!?
I pray you will be able to be of comfort to the family at the visitation. It's hard to know what to say sometimes.
That cartoon is hilarious. I sent it to my snowed in friend in PA.
I'm glad the water damage isn't as bad as it sounded yesterday.

Awww, girlymom...you sound like you need a hug after going through roof trouble and then a funeral! ((hugs))
And a big high five to celebrate that 'els-Day' is sleeping through the night! (Like I how wrote that in pig-latin just in case she was sitting on your lap as you read this??) How cool is that?! Nothing is quite so nice for a busy mom as a solid nights sleep! Woo hoo!

I'm tired of it too! Spring is overdue already!
Sorry bout your leak...hopefully that gets fixed soon. And sorry about your cousin. Thinkin about ya!

Visitations of those kind are extra hard. THere's more than just the loss to deal with. Yeah for baby Dels!
Sorry to hear of your family's loss, but I was way excited that baby Del's slept through he night I am starting to realize how lucky I was when both of mine slept through (11 to 5:30) by 8 weeks. WTG Del's catch up on that sleep mommy!
so sorry for your loss. no matter what those things are always tough. I will be thinking of you.
sorry about your leak. we have had that same problem in the past. hope it is not to tough to fix!
on a brighter not. WHOOHOO! I know that feeling when they finally sleep. you must be walkin on the clouds today. I hope she continues to sleep tonight. Good Luck!
FIRST AND FOREMOST! GOOD GIRL, DELS! Yay for sleeping all night, and may this be a regular occurrence!
I'm so sorry about your second cousin, and so sorry for his daughter, too. No matter what the situation, it's an awful thing for the survivors. I hope he is at peace now.
And though I already commented on the leak in the previous post, I still must say...EEEK! :)
I am glad you leak was not that bad, but it still looks like a pain.
I can not wait until spring.
I am sorry for you and your family on your cousin's death.
sorry about your roof and your loss...but yay, I'm happy Dels slept all night! I can't wait for Ash to do the same!!
I am so sorry to hear about the loss of your second cousin. I will pray for your family that the good memories they have will get them through this difficult time. It is totally normal that even though it was expected to still have a difficult time with it when it actually does happen.
On a positive note: YAY for baby Dels!!! I just hope that once you said it outloud that it didn't jinx the whole thing.
As soon as Dels knows that you know it won't happen
Death is not easy
So sorry to hear about your second cousin. And your ice dam on the roof.
We have had the ice dams this year too. I too am ready to see something green.
Oh yeah, a huge congrats on your little one sleeping through the night!! That is the best!
Life is so much easier to face with some SLEEP! :) Glad the leak wasn't worse. Hope it can get fixed soon.
holy crap babe, the leak sucks!!!
I am sorry about your cousin and THRILLED you got a full nights sleep.
Hugs to you . . . You know, a loss is a loss. Even if you don't know them well or the relationship wasn't the best. . . you still mourn what could have been and what they leave behind.
That is a crazy, mad leak. Do you have some tape? :)
